STEPHEN PHAM
Group Collaborator: Consultant + Facilitator
Stephen Pham (he/him) is the son of Vietnamese refugees; a proud, queer man; a lifelong West Coaster; a product of public schools. The work of racial equity and justice is personal to him – he works to ensure all people can thrive in spaces of belonging and liberation.
As an educator, equity strategist, and nonprofit management consultant, Stephen works with social impact organizations across the country to refine their strategy, strengthen their equity lens, and build organizational capacity to achieve community-centered impact. He serves clients across a wide range of stages and issue areas, including community-based organizations, housing innovation hubs, research institutions, community foundations, and education nonprofits, bringing his extensive experience as a generalist working across and integrating all functions within organizations. Stephen is skilled in working with all groups of stakeholders, including board members, senior leaders, staff, and community members, managing change in a strategic and equity-centered way to achieve strong project outcomes.
Before starting his consulting practice, Stephen was a DEI and nonprofit management leader, supporting sector-wide efforts to scale equity-centered instructional and organizational practices. Stephen’s 13+ years of experience include heading nonprofit operations, talent, and culture at The Learning Accelerator, leading the national innovation strategy for Rocketship Public Schools, serving as a Blended Learning Master Teacher for BetterLesson, and teaching 5th-grade STEM in East San José.
Stephen currently serves as a board member of the Cottonwood School of Civics & Science and a council member of the Portland Children’s Levy Community Council and Metro Committee on Racial Equity. He holds a B.S. from UCLA, is based in Portland, Oregon, with his husband and pup, and loves eating, traveling, and being outdoors as much as possible.
